Iago Domínguez is a Galician cellist born in Santiago de Compostela in 1995. He began his music studies at the age of five at the Santiago de Compostela Professional Conservatory of Music and later with Professor Bárbara Switalska. Starting in 2014, he studied with Ivan Monighetti and Sol Gabetta at the prestigious Hochschule für Musik Basel for his bachelor's degree. He continued his master's studies with Danjulo Ishizaka.

 

Iago has won several prizes in international competitions, including the Soncello Competition in Spain and the Studiumpreis Migros Kulturprozent in Switzerland. He has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras such as the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, the Galician Symphony Orchestra, the Kammerorchester Basel, the Real Filharmonia de Galicia, the Orquesta Clássica de Espinho and the Young Eurasian Soloists Chamber Orchestra.

 

In addition to his solo career, Iago is a member of the Athena Quartet and has collaborated with other prominent musicians such as Ivan Monighetti, Sol Gabetta, Kian Soltani, Mischa Maisky, Arto Noras and Frans Helmerson at international festivals in Russia, Portugal, Croatia, the Countries Netherlands and Switzerland.

 

Iago has been selected to participate in several music academies and festivals, including the Academy of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein and the Davos Festival, among others.
